RULES of the MEDWAY FOSSIL and MINERAL SOCIETY | |
| 1) | CLUB NIGHT FEES |
| 1.1) | Members must pay the appropriate fees on club nights as set by the committee. |
| 2) | LOAN OF EQUIPMENT TO CLUB MEMBERS |
2.1) | Members may borrow machines and equipment, as nominated by the committee and on a weekly basis, after they have received instructions in its safe and correct use and always at the discretion of the committee. |
2.2)
| The equipment must be signed for by the member who then becomes responsible for its return in a clean condition the following week. A committee member will be nominated to check the condition of the machine on its return each week and generally to supervise the arrangements for hire. |
| 2.3) | Any fee for the hire of the machine will be set by the committee. |
| 3) | LIBRARY |
| 3.1) | The library will be open on club nights and will be supervised by a member nominated by the committee to act as Librarian. |
3.2 | Members who wish to borrow books must sign the appropriate record card at the time of borrowing and must return the books within a period of three weeks. |
| 3.3) | When a book is returned, it must be handed to the librarian who will countersign the record card. |
3.4)
| Books may be reserved and may also be renewed providing that :- A) They are brought in for renewal. B) They have not been reserved by another member. |
| 3.5) | Members are responsible for the books they borrow and, at the discretion of the committee, may be required to replace any book which is lost or damaged whilst in their possession. |
| 3.6) | Unbound magazines may be borrowed for a period of one week only, after they have been lodged in the library for a period of at least four weeks. |
| 3.7) | All books to be returned before the winter break for stock taking. |
| 4) | FIELD TRIPS |
4.1)
| Except where restrictions on entry to any site are imposed by the landowner, field trips are open to all members. Non members attending field trips with the field trip leaders permission must become a day member and pay the appropriate fee as laid down by the committee. The field trip leader is responsible to pay any monies collected to the treasurer. This rule may be waived where the trip is combined with other societies. |
4.2)
| When visiting private property, and on all field trips, members under 18 years old may only attend at the discretion of the Fieldtrip Organizer and must be accompanied by a responsible adult member who will accept responsibility for their actions and safety. |
| 4.3) | Members attending field trips must abide by any instructions laid down by the organiser of the field trip and are expected to behave in a manner which benefits the good name of the society. |
| 4.4) | Members attending field trips do so entirely at their own risk. The society cannot be held responsible for accidents however caused. |
| 4.5) | Any
member attending a field trip must sign the attendance form. |
